UNCG is located in the dynamic city of Greensboro, North Carolina (population 250,000). Greensboro is the third-largest city in the state and is located about halfway between Atlanta and Washington, D.C. The cities of Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point make up the Piedmont Triad area, which is home to ten other four-year colleges and universities. Approximately 18,500 students (33 percent male, 67 percent female) from all 50 states and more than 90 countries. The fall 2009 freshman class was the largest ever at 2,510. Minority enrollment is about 27%.
