College Fair Night at Queen's Grant High School

Queen's Grant High School will hold its first ever College Fair Night.  The fair will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  You may come anytime during that time.  It is a drop-in, booth style college fair.  At your arrival, you will receive a map of which classroom each representative will be in so that you may plan out your visits.

Also, please dress appropriately because these are the college/university representatives that may very well be reading your admissions application.  Be polite, introduce yourself, shake their hand and have eye contact with them.  To speed along your visits with the individual representatives, you may want to type up and print out adhesive labels with your information on them to stick on the information cards that they will ask you to fill out.

Things to include on your adhesive labels could include:
1. Full name
2. Home address
3. Phone number
4. Appropriate email address
5. Graduation date
6. Potential major
7. If you want to play a college sport
8. Your weighted and unweighted GPAs
9. SAT and/or ACT score(s) or when you plan to take them next

You will probably need to type in a fairly small font size.  Make sure that your home printer will print on the type of labels you buy.  Label sheets usually come with about 20 to 30 labels per sheet.

These are the scheduled participants for the fair:
1. U. S. Coast Guard
2. Carolinas College of Health Science
3. Synergy Alliance of Financial Education
4. Lenoir-Rhyne University

Harrington accepted to Wingate University & Pfeiffer University

Please join Queen's Grant High School in congratulating Hayley Harrington on her recent acceptances to Wingate University and Pfeiffer University.  Way to go Hayley!

Wingate University is committed to integrating Christian thought with dynamic Christian living. Its religious heritage ensures that freedom of conscience is respected and religious conformity is never demanded. At Wingate University, Christian truth is not only present in the classroom, but also evident in the lives of faculty and students who represent the full spectrum of beliefs. Wingate seeks to be the place where students discover and grow into their own beliefs. Student Ministries at Wingate seeks to lead students “to love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength and love their neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12). Student Ministries also seeks to guide students toward a faith and faith living that will last a lifetime. Our office is located in the DPC—come in and sit in the most comfortable couch on campus.
Pfeiffer University first opened its doors in 1885 as a mission school founded to provide an education to students who had few opportunities for formal learning. Much has changed over the years, but Pfeiffer continues to emphasize the “service before self” principles on which we were built.
